I began documenting my neighborhood in 2020, and this would be my first time seriously starting to work on a project involving my community.

Leaving home is pretty tough. Learning how to adapt to a different environment can bring a completely different person out of you, let alone having to start in a whole different place while figuring out what your passion is. When starting photography, capturing things far away from was my “norm”, what I thought was “creative”. Leaving home not as mature and spending a good amount of time away from where I was raised brought an appreciation that I never thought I would ever have. When returning, something was different. I was more mature, and my journey as an adult was beginning. I became unfamiliar with myself in my once normal environment. This journey changed my approach to photography. Make yourself at home.
